Dr. Susan Chu had recently acquired Cedar Dental Group as of early 2025. Under her new ownership, she wanted to revamp the website to be more modernized and match her business approach. At Cedar Dental Group, Dr. Susan Chu wants to highlight her new office renovations and current dental care promotions.
With Dr. Susan Chu‘s ownership for the newly acquired Cedar Dental Group, she believes a brand and style overhaul are needed to compete with her competitors in Renton.
She had a few requests like:
She had also reached out to a new marketing team to help push the business and website on the map to draw in new patients.
To help Dr. Susan Chu stand out amongst her competitors, it would be best to:
During the kickoff meeting with Dr. Susan Chu, user interviews and user testing were discussed. However, Dr. Susan Chu wanted to prioritize having the brand and style overhaul as soon as possible. We jumped right into viewing the competitors.
Making a Competitive Analysis for Fourth Morris, Renton Smile Dentistry, 1st Impression Dental Care, and Pinelake Family Dentistry provided insight on ideal feautres to include and what to omit.
To create a positive dental website experience, it is best to design towards providing an efficient way for a patient to get short, concise answer with plenty of visuals accompanied with it. This allows a potential or existing patient to see if the dental office matches to what they're looking for.
Besides getting into the mindset of who we are designing for, it was best also to organize a revision task list by priority. The product requirements are categorized and prioritized as: Must-Have, Nice to Have, Surprising and delightful, and Can come later.
The revisions I will put highest priority are:
To better understand what would be best for the site restructuring, I examined the available pages. There were several pages I needed to condense to make an existing and current patient's experience better when they want to explore Cedar Dental Group.
The sitemap structures the website to have a better redirect:
To envision the redesign, I sketched out a few explorations of what I would envision the new pages would look like.
Quick sketches were insufficient to fully convey how I would redesign several of the Cedar Dental Group's website pages. The mid-fidelity wireframes helped me see how the layout would ideally look on a PC. This helped me narrow down which of my sketches worked and what didn’t.
I worked on several pages for Cedar Dental Group's redesign. See below for what I had redesigned.
With the homepage, a user gets introduced to what Cedar Dental Group is all about. You can find previews to:
I honored the detailed requests that Dr. Susan Chu had asked for, all while ensuring patients would be able to see what Cedar Dental Group has to offer.
Patients would be able to know at a glance of what Cedar Dental Group could help them with.
The New Patient page covers what patients may want to know about Cedar Dental Group by helping with:
This page guides new patients of what to expect from the office in how they verify, schedule appointments, considerations before the visit, and as well as the first visit itself and accommodations.
The About page informs the patients more of Cedar Dental Group's new management and its style. A user can see photos and a brief description of:
Cedar Dental Group's Service page was formerly just a short bullet point list of nine of the services. I wanted to help with not only the SEO, but also educate patients of what services fell in what dental category.
The dental service categories listed were:
Within each category, all eighteen services that were offered at Cedar Dental Group were listed under it and made clickable.
For Preventative Dentistry's page, it detailed more of what patients can expect from a checkup and its benefits.
Preventative dentistry includes:
Restorative Dentistry's page didn't include benefits but it listed all the services. The services also did not have their own respective page yet. The page was made with intent for Dr. Susan Chu to be able to add redirect links to the services in the future.
The Restorative Dentistry page includes:
Cosmetic Dentistry's page was made similarly to how the Restorative Dentistry page was made.
The Cosmetic Dentistry page includes:
These services listed would also would be easy for Dr. Chu to attach the redirect link to them later down the line.
The Dental Implants page includes:
The Clear Aligners page provided information for a patient on what it is and how it's made. It encourages patients to take the next step for clear braces with Cedar Dental Group.
The Emergency Dentistry page lets patients know what Cedar Dental Group is able to address and guides them on the proper steps to address the situation temporarily.
The Tooth Fillings page informs patients on Cedar Dental Group's gentle approach and what types of tooth fillings are offered at their office.
The Gum Disease Treatment page focused more on educating a patient since not everyone may be familiar with periodontis. It lists the methods that Cedar Dental Group follows to address this oral health issue.
The Specials and Membership Plan informs patients of what deals that Cedar Dental Group currently offers. It also informs dental options for cash patients.
Besides a membership, Cedar Dental Group tells patients of other financial options that are available to them during the time of their appointment on the Financial Policy and Payment Options.
Due to time constraints, Dr. Susan Chu requested to skip prototyping and user testing. Dr. Chu wanted to launch the site as soon as she was able to.
The redesigned website aligned seamlessly with Dr. Susan Chu’s vision and elevated Cedar Dental Group’s brand identity. The modernized design improved usability, strengthened patient trust, and positioned the practice for increased engagement and growth.
This paid project was both challenging and rewarding, offering valuable opportunities for growth. Dr. Susan Chu brought several creative visions for the website, and I guided her through refining those ideas into a cohesive direction. I provided constructive recommendations, explaining how certain layouts and color choices could better support functionality and user experience while still aligning with her aesthetic goals. While I had prior experience with WordPress, this was my first time working with Elementor. I quickly adapted, learning the platform while transferring my Figma designs into it. Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with Core6Marketing to ensure that my design decisions complemented their SEO automation and supported overall performance.
